As we had to catch a tender boat to shore early in the morning, we did not get time to have breakfast, but we managed to snag a Croissant and Pain Au Chocolat at the Grounds Club cafe on the way down to the Red Room, where we were given our bus numbers. As we were almost about to leave the ship they said we could not take food with us, so we quickly ate them leaving no time for a picture, so here is an AI version.
Once on shore in Cannes we were directed to our bus. We had an English speaking guide, Frank, originally from Frankfurt but had been living in the Riviera for 18 years. We drove through Cannes for about 15 minutes before stopping at a service station for a comfort stop. Once everyone was back on board we carried on to Nice. We had an alert the day before stating that the buses had to reduce the amount of air-conditioning they use due to some French law. Fortunately, our bus didn't reduce it as it was another hot day.
On our way to Nice we saw some cool structures and even passed a little carousel. The bus let us off in town and our guide took us on a walking tour of Nice before giving us some free time to look around.
The walking tour of Nice started by the Court House, Palais de Justice, and Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate de Nice. We walked through a park, which was built over a river, some alley ways and a market, finishing at Église Saint-François-de-Paule and the Opera House. There was also a sign there saying it was 37°C. We were then given about 45 minutes to explore the area on our own and meet back at the same place.
We wandered down to the beach, which was beautiful, then walked along the boardwalk. By this time we were needing a drink so headed back towards the market. Along the way we passed a lot of colourful and ornate buildings, and the Fontaine du Soleil. At the market we saw the Chapel of Mercy. We saw a stand selling refreshing looking drinks and chose a citronnade Framboise drink, which tasted disgusting, but was very refreshing. We also bought half a dozen small round donuts, which were amazing. We then made our way back to the meeting point and walked back to our nice air-conditioned bus.
The bus then made it's way to Eze, a medieval village up a windy, hilly road. On our way to Eze we passed a weird square-headed statue. When we arrived at Eze our guide then took us on another walking tour to Jardin Exotique d’Èze. We walked up a narrow path, passing many small shops on the way. We also passed a 5 star hotel which had some flash cars in it. We had to pay €8 to go into the gardens and climb more stairs to get an amazing view of the area.
Once we made it to Monaco, the bus parked in a two storey bus parking lot, where we had to take an elevator then an escalator to Musée Océanographique de Monaco. Frank took us through Jardins Saint-Martin, which had a statue of Princess Grace and Prince Albert. We went into Cathédrale de Monaco, then made our way to Prince's Palace of Monaco, where we were given an hour to look around.
During the free time, we explored the little shops nearby and decided to grab some lunch. We found a tiny Food Shop selling paninis and ice cream, so we got both, before heading back to the bus. It was so hot even the escalator stopped working. The trip back to the boat was a lot quicker as, instead of going back over the hill through Eze, we went through a long tunnel instead.
After we got back on the boat we went and got a chocolate covered banana pop. We then went to the Pizza Place and ordered some custom pizzas. Mum chose to put some chicken and an egg on her pizza and I got pepperoni with extra cheese. We finished dinner off with some ice cream from 'Lick me till...ice Cream' which is right next door to the Pizza Place, before heading back to our cabin for the night.
