As we had to leave very early today, we didn't get a photo of our breakfast, but we pretty much had the same thing as yesterday. We did stop for a short break, at a 'comfort stop' on our way to Germany, and got a sausage roll and an ice block. We also saw a ton of spinning Mercedes logos everywhere, makes sense, it's where they are made.
After our quick stop we continued on to Boppard, Germany. We saw a lot of solar panels and a huge coal quarry. We also passed by many small villages and castles on the way.
We stopped for lunch at another 'Comfort stop' which just happened to have a McDonalds. It was the cheapest place to go for lunch. There was a cute German/Dutch robot mopping the floor, we fed it chips. It stared at mum for a while, then winked at her before moving on, leaving a puddle behind. We got back on the bus and carried on to Boppard, seeing more castles, villages and vineyards on the way.
When we finally arrived in Boppard, a cute little village on the Rhine river, Mayra walked us to the village for a wine tasting tour. Mum and I didn't want to do it so we wandered around the village instead. Mayra told us to meet her back at the pier by 3pm, as we were going to do a cruise up the Rhine to St. Goar.
The cruise along the Rhine was beautiful and peaceful. The boat sat around 600 people and had a few tour groups on it. Fortunately, our group were directed to the top deck, which made for better photo opportunities. We saw some really old castles, from the middle ages, and some more little villages. An hour later we arrived at St. Goar.
When we got to St. Goar, Mayra took us to a Cuckoo Clock and Stein shop. The shop had a special stein made up for Expat Explorer, the name of our tour, showing all the places we had been and were going to. We bought one as a souvenir but did not take a photo of it. The cuckoo clocks were amazing and very unique. There were so many to look at, all doing different things, like people dancing or men chopping wood. There was even one there where the man was drinking beer and the wife was hitting him with a rolling pin.
We had quite a basic and underwhelming dinner, which we had to wait ages for. We had a salad, meat and vegetables and fruit with half a scoop of ice cream.
