Today was the first day in a while that we didn't have to pack our bags and leave the hotel early. London put on it's usual weather . . . rain. We met Nikita and Peter downstairs and walked to the Underground where we caught the train to Victoria Station. We went to The black Sheep Coffee Shop for breakfast where we had a Nutella and strawberry waffle, Peanut Butter and banana waffle, some other yummy waffle and a ham and cheese toasty, along with a pain au raisin and croissant, with a matcha latte, cappuccinos and a hot chocolate. Peter went to meet his parents, who travelled up from Poole to spend the day with us, and they joined us at the Coffee Shop.
After breakfast we all walked for an hour, in the rain, to meet up with Peter's older brother Sam, who had travelled down from Leeds to also spend the day with us. We stopped and had a quick snack, passing a statue of Sherlock Holmes on the way, before dropping Sam's bike and bag at a storage facility and walking to Madame Tussauds. It was a great place to spend a couple of hours while it was raining outside.
We went to Wetherspoons . . . again, for a late lunch - early dinner, as it has great service and the food is good and cheap. I think all 7 of us had something different.
After we had eaten we travelled by train to the London Eye. Peter's dad didn't want to go up, so sat down on a park bench, in the rain, to wait for the rest of us.
As it was raining it made it a bit harder to see, or take photos. We were just starting our descent when the wheel stopped and we started rolling back up. After a while we made our way back to the bottom and met back up with Peter's dad. We went through the gift shop, as you do, and saw yet another display of ducks. Seems to be a big thing in Europe.
We then took the train back to Waterloo Station to farewell Peter's family. While we waited for their train Peter and Sam went to pick Sam's stuff up from storage. It was lovely to meet them all and spend the day with them. After we said goodbye we made our way back to the hotel, where we hung out in the bar/restaurant, playing cards with Nikita and Peter for the rest of the evening, before going back to our rooms for the night.
